I deleted the running processess and tried to open the CD again.. Movie started palying in VLC player.. Screen was small .. so I tried to make it full screen by pressing "Alt +Enter".. I dint know that ALT+Enter combination doesnt work in VLC player. I was searching all the menu to make it full screen..

I double clicked on the screen .. and there it turned to full screen..

A baby crush on a baby Snow White!!

Raghav is in Pre-KG at one of the famous schools in Chetpet. I have been finding a lot of positive changes in him since he started going to this school. The Montessori method of teaching has brought a lot of changes in his way of thinking and learning. He speaks English quite well, though we dont prefer speaking in English at home. He is now fluent in Kannada, Tamil and English. He understands Telugu quite well. And in a few days when his grandparents would join us, he will start speaking in Telugu too.

Raghav's school encourages a lot of group activities for kids. Even in their sports day, they had many group games ensuring that each kid gets a trophy. And that was really a very good way to encourage kids participation in all the activities. They also had a annual day function for Montessori class kids. It was very well organized. we had a good time. Raghav was dressed up as a band boy in the Disney parade. All kids were dressed up as Disney characters and band boys were leading these kids on the stage.

Raghav is very fond of these Disney fairy tales. And especially snow white and seven dwarfs. And There was one girl who was dressed up as snow white in the Disney parade. Raghav was very excited to see snow white. And even till this date he gets all excited whenever he sees this girl. He doesnt know her name as she belongs to another Pre-KG section. Every time he gets a chance to see this girl before I drop him at school, he stops until this girl enters her class and then goes to his class.

Today when I was dropping him at his school, I saw that this girl was coming to school with her dad. I waved at her and said hello to her father. And here is our conversation..

Me: Hi kiddo .. Hello (to her dad)
Her dad: Hello.. which section?
Me : Bunnies .Whats her name?
Her dad: (Name withheld ;-) )
Me: She was looking very sweet in snow white dress on annual day function.
Her dad: (smiles) (and more smiles)
Me: My son Raghav keeps talking about your girl.
Her dad: (smile .. more smile)
Me: He always tells me whenever he meets her. He calls her Snow White.
Her dad: (smile , smiles and more smiles) I never knew that this would start so soon (winks)
me and her dad: LOL

And I am still laughing!!
Wonder what Raghav would do when he grows up..
And I hope to preserve this post to tell him that snow white was his first crush!!!

uuuff...That was a long gap!!
10 days .. And I dindt have access to my blog!!
Missed it so much..

Last 5 days were worst. I was ordered to sit inside a room for straight 7 hours everyday!! And the worst part was... I was forced to hear someone who was non coherently uttering some nonsense. I hope you would gave guessed it by now.. Yup!! I was attending a training. Trained in yet another new DW tool called OBIEE. And I had a great time fighting with the trainer (full story reserved for a seperate post).

Anyways .. enough of my ramblings..

Simply Divine!

This 31st December was best ever year end that I have ever had!!

I had the previlege of attending a katcheri by Sri Sri Vidhyabhushana Theertha Swamiji at the Raghavendra temple at Ayanavaram, at the occasion of inauguartion of their charitable trust called "Sri Raghavendra Granthalaya".

Swamiji's songs and his voice were simply divine. He sang some of Purandara Dasa and Kanaka dasara padgalu.

I was very disappointed when my all time favourite song "Pillangoviya chelluva Krishna", which is one of kanaka dasara padagulu, was not a part of the concert.. But I did enjoy every moment of the song "Ishtu Idhna e Vaikunta Eshtu dooravu" .. It was simply divine...
And I am glad that I was blessed enough to see Swamji.

What is Data Warehouse?

When somebody asks me this question, I would be giving the most repeated answer which you will find on any DW textbook or DW site. The answers are:

consistent store of relevant data for reporting
Store of data for analysing the business.

When the same question was asked to a set of freshers in my team, there came a rush of multiple intresting, rib tickling answers..

Warehouse which stores data is called data warehouse.
Data in the warehouse is called data warehouse
A warehouse full of data.
Basically theoretically conceptually usually it is a relational database like RDBMS. Datawarehouse - enakku laddu aana avarukku boondhiya theriyudhu (meaning Concept of DW differs from person to person)
Datawarehouse - Saravana storela poyi car bomma vaangalam aana car vaanga mudiyadhu. (meaning Adhoc queries are not really adhoc)
Finally .. concludingly.. Net netDatawarehouse is all about dabbas (showing the architecture diagram - dabbas all servers )
OLTP and OLAP rendum goodsu vandiyum express trainum maadhiri.

All these wonderful dialogues came up during a datawarehouse knowledge sharing session. All freshers entered the conference room well prepared for the discussion. Similar to Vadivelu's dialogue ‘enga aNNan karunchiruthai parambarai. Bus la kambi pidikaama dhaan povaar’, these guys said, "naanga ellarum IT pasanga. Conferencekku nettu irundhu definitions download pannithan varuvom" .

one team member was asked to present the DW concepts. I could clearly read her thoughts. It said "ennai vetchu comedy keemady pannaliye"

After the session, the person who took the presentation looked very enthusiatic. To quote the person ... (to be read in Vadivelu style in the movie Giri)
